Elena - biologist, dive guide & boat captain
Elena loves to spoil the clients on the boat and to keep a close eye on them underwater. She will try to keep everyone happy, comfortable, and safe at all times during the tour. She knows that little things make a huge difference in the experience, so she enjoys providing everything the guests could need. She is a biologist and likes to talk about fish species, especially sharks! She studied biology at the Simón Bolívar University (Venezuela) and an MBA in Sustainable Tourism at the European University of Munich (Germany). After completing her studies she traveled the world for a year to learn about shark ecotourism thanks to the Rolex Scholarship, an amazing program for divers of the Our World Underwater Scholarship Society.
Dan - photographer, dive guide & boat captain
Dan loves to drive the boat, take underwater pictures, and tell ocean stories on the surface intervals. He is the one who, based on the weather and ocean conditions, will decide or recommend which dive site(s) to go to. Dan likes to look for whales, dive with sharks, interact with turtles, and point out cool fish behaviors or anything interesting he sees around. If you have any question(s) about diving destinations, underwater photography, videography, or drones, he is the man to go to, as he is an experienced diver, photographer, and videographer. Currently, he is also the editor of Dive Photo Guide, a great platform to learn and share all about underwater photography & videography.
blacky - THE DIVE SHOP DOGGIE
Our spoiled pitbull-boxer mix dog will be at the dive shop to welcome our guests. He loves to be stroked gently and to play. If he likes you, he will probably jump on you or give you his paws, so watch out for his claws! He is a bit clumsy when he gets excited and we try not to tell him off too much because he had a rough past. He lived in the streets for months until he got rescued by the staff of the St. Maarten Veterinary Clinic. When we met him, we decided to foster him for “maximum one week”. However, we both fell in love with him and adopted him in September 2018. Since then, we have been trying to improve Blacky’s traumas with lots of love and affection.
ADRIAN - Scuba Diving Instructor
Since a little kid, he has dreamed about swimming with sharks, so his favorite activity with us of course is shark diving. We will never forget the face he had when he saw his first shark coming close to him!… He has explored lots of dive sites with us, so he knows them well, and is always helping on the boat and around the shop. He recently finished The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) in Mexico, so he is ready to teach dive courses. He can fluently speak four languages (English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese) and loves to meet new people. We, and all our guests, love his enthusiasm, nice vibe, and consider him a valuable member of the SXM Divers team!
EMILIO - DIVEMASTER
Originally from Argentina, Emilio was always passionate about traveling and scuba diving.
